Definition and types of women

What is the definition of woman? Can we ever define woman. Normally people think women are species who have tender body, rosy cheeks and pinkish lips and very vulnerable and dependent. Usually we can know about woman about their delicate body but this is not true.
But this definition is only defining the physique of women. Many cultures define the women in their own way. In Hinduism women are define in unique way we can get little bit of knowledge from the extract from Veda “ Her father protects(her) childhood, her husband protects(her) in youth, and her son protects(her) in old age, a woman never fit for independence., Manusmriti 9.3”.
In this definition we can see that muni is thinking a woman as a burden of his family and woman can never be independent of her own but in this generation we can see that woman are independent and taking their own decisions to do whatever need to do for their live. But we have another definition of woman in Hinduism “A women is form of energy (shaktiswarupini) or an aspect of shakti. She is mata, the mother goddess, or devi the auspicious one. As a young child she is kanya, the goddesss Durga. As a wife she is patni and saha dharma charini, a partner in her husband’s religious duties. As a mother she is worthy of worship (matrudevobhava).
According to this definition women are the form of shakti and they are playing different roles in a man’s life. This definition is doing justice to woman and is very pleasant to know woman are form of goddess and they have their own individuality and they can make a mans life heaven by doing her duties and giving the man power by devoting herself completely to her family and woman have also have right to take decision by acting as a partner in her husband’s life. Can a man need a definition I don’t think so because they are not an endangered species and they didn’t have to struggle for their life as women did. We women don’t have a time to define a man because we have so many problems which have to sort out first.
In ancient literature women are basically categorized in four types Padmini , Sankhini , Hastini and Chitrini.
1 .Padmini- This type women are very rare. They are most beautiful, pious, graceful, round body as well as face (..devi bhogya Basundhara..._), su-hasini, su-bhasini,charu-hasini and calm. They are like Devis. Their fragrance is like that of lotus. By their grace full charm, they can mesmerize Gandharve, Kinnara and Jakhas and even enemies.
2. Shankhini- This type of Women are beautiful, intelligent and sharp as well as smart. They are like crunch, the sankha. Their body structure is balanced, their energy level is high and they are independent. They are difficult to crack. Gargi, Baidhehi, Surabandhya etc. belonged to this class.
3.Hastini- This type of ladies are graceful, healthy, little bulky, and fragile. They like any food stuff under the earth. They are graceful, homely, late risers, late sleepers, aristocrat, fun -loving, like hunting and socializing. Entertainment is the final destination in their life. They can not take decisions but create problem if you take decisions. They start with "no "and end with "yes." They are contended ,peace loving and of 'chaltahai' attitude.
4.Chitrini- These type of women are basically slim figures. They like to be in pencil like appearance. They love 'singar' and 'srungar' both. They love themselves first and they do things very fast! They like to change dresses frequently, use cosmetics often and can not get out of bed room without lipsticks. Their appetite is low but run to the restaurants frequently.
This kind of categorization shows how men from ancient times have been curious about women.

Akhri arzoo hain jee lene ki
Tanha hain dil kisi se milne ki

Armaano ka kya kehna par lagenge unpar
Arzoo hain bas ek baar tere haan kehne ki.

Kashish hain jo khichi chali aati hain
jism ki nazakat par rooh nahi pari jaati hain.

Rojana tera deedar nahi hota
Chandni aati hain par chaand nahin aata.

Pal bhar mein bhuj jaata hain dil ka jahan
Chirag jalta hain par roshan hota nahin jahan

Chahat mein teri din raat roya karte hain
Har ek chere mein tera chera dhoonda karte hain.

Khwab hassen jab aate hain
Bin palke jhapkaye dekha karte hain.

Saawan aaya par aap na aaye
Mausam ke bahane barsaat mein nahaya karte hain.

Aapka saath nahin jaayien koi baat nahin.
Har ek din mar ke jiya karte hain.

Aap ki umeed mein din se raat ho jaati hain
Umeedo ka chirag jalaya karte hain.

Safar ke name par safar nama likha karte hain
Roshan hain dil ka jahaan naam tera liya karte hain.

Meri tanhayio mein aksar aap ka hi zikr hota hain.
Har ek udaas lamho mein aap hi ki khwaish hoti hain.

Aapke baazuio mein simatne ki chahat hain hamari
Har ek armaan ko puri hone ki khwaaish hain hamari

Har ek lamhe mein samaye ho aap……
Isliye har ek lamhe ko jeene ki chahat hain hamari.

Aapki har ek yaadon ko sameta hain bare soke se.
Ab is soke ko banaye rakhne ki hasrat hain hamari.

Aap se bichar ne ka malal hain is tanhaan dil ko
Isliye Dil ki har ek baat ab lagti hai bamani

Jhapakte huein palko mein aap hi ka ehsas hota hain
Isliye ab palko ko band rakhna aadat hain hamari.

Raat ki oos ki har boond se thandak milti hain aapki
Ab raat ko uth uth kar jaagne ki fitrat ho gayi hain hamari.

Aapki surat ko dekh paate hain hum kab
Isliye intezaar mein aapki parchai ko dhoonda majboori hain hamari.

Dil ke dard ko chupana bhi ho gaya hain muskil.
Na bataya to aapka door jaana kismat mein hain hamari.

SHINNING INDIA

We the women of India face many social stigmas, taboos and problems. But today’s India there are so many things changing. Earlier there were many protests for girl child to do studies. But it’s changed; now girls were also doing studies with the boys and doing jobs and glorifying India by reaching space station for instance Sunita Williams.
We can also see changes in our politics. Our first Indian woman president is Pratibha Patil and our first leader of ruling party congress has also a woman president Madam Sonia Gandhi. But is it a new face of India? No because this changes are very slow and steady and this changes has been came only in urban cities of India. What about rural areas?
Indian women are going through with the pain of having social stigmas, taboos and problems, like witch hunting, dowry-death, child marriage, honour killing, and lack of education of girls, trafficking and malnutrition of women.

The most dangerous and humiliating problem which is rapidly eating Indian society is female infanticide. We can see the difference in sex ratio of male and female population in every region of India. From 2001 census; we can get the information, there were 35 million more males than females and for every 1000 baby boy there is only 927 infants.
Task is very tough and complicated because we can understand that if we need to change the women condition we have to transform the mentality of Indian people. Have we ever thought what kind of mentality Indian women and men possess? This problem is not only related to lack of education of Indian people, this kind of brutality is also doing by educated people. It is not only done by lower class and middle class people of India. It has been also done by upper class. The main reason for having boy rather than girl Indian people still think that boy is medium from which parents can go heaven and only boy can become solely the bread earner of family. In India 52% of women are illiterate (UNDESA, 2006)

Dowry is like a booming industry for Indian parents who have son and an unavoidable thing for the parents of a girl child. In every 75 minutes, one woman is a victim of dowry death (National Crimes Bureau of India, 2004). There are so many child marriages are going on we can see it from the survey that in India 45% of women still being forced into marriage before the age of 18 (UNICEF 2007) and every now days we are getting news of giving woman a social stigma of witch and forcefully they have to eat garbage. So many women and girl child having fatal death because they have malnutrition body and every 7 minutes one woman dies in childbirth (UNICEF 2007).

We are watching all the cool dude and fashionable new generation are they aware what kind of problem facing India now. The new generation is spending lots of time and money for boozing in pub. They idolizing their hero and heroines and main concern having size zero figure and medias main breaking news is always comes that which heroine have size zero figure and which hero eating how many eggs to have eight pack abs.
So much disparity is in Indian society, but still Indian women giving men a big fight in many sectors. Kamroom Musmat a Muslim widow of Bihar dug the well single handedly when her neighbors refuse to give her water and her family. Can we say India is shinning no we can’t because unless women access equal rights in every area of society India will not shine.

Mrigtrishna

Mrigtrishna jaisa jeevan,
jiski koi disha na ho..
Agar isme mil jaye,
Nadi ki kal-kal dhara....
AA jaye isme hariyali ka saawan...
Thandi dhoop ,Thandi chaya,
jaise madmast basant...
Na rahegi yeh mrigtrishna,
Ban jayegi.......
yeh saurya avhilashaoka jeeban.
